AT&T Cloud Architect
A Range of Ways to Reach Your Goals
Create My Cloud
Configuring your public instance with AT&T Cloud Architect is easy. Just use the drop-down menus below. Any configurations you choose here will be consistent across all the public instances (virtual machines) that comprise this order.
Soon after we receive your order, you can use the customer management portal to make changes to this initial selection. You can also use the portal to build additional configurations.
Tips for creating your AT&T Cloud Architect public instance
Need help with your configuration decisions? Each selection on the left is listed below. Use the drop-down menus here to view details.
Select the data center location you prefer in Dallas, San Jose, Seattle or Washington D.C. If you have no preference, select “first available.”
You can choose between 1-20 public instances per order. Remember, the configuration choices you make here (cores, RAM, etc) will be consistent across all the public instances that comprise this order. If more than 20 instances are needed, please place an additional order or contact Sales for support
You can select between 1-16 cores for your public instance(s). All cores are 2.0 GHz processors. Increase the quantity of cores you order to support larger workloads requiring more robust performance.
Choose 1-16 GB of RAM (also referred to as memory) for your public instance(s). Select RAM based on the memory needs of your application, as some applications consume more RAM.
Each public instance uses local disk space to store applications and files to deliver higher input/output performance. You can choose either 25 or 100 GB of storage, based on the requirements of your application.
Choose from a range of 32- and 64-bit operating systems (OSs), including CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Redhat, Ubuntu and Microsoft. Choose the OS that is compatible with your application.
OS specific add-on
Microsoft WebMatrix is a development tool to create, publish and maintain your website. R1Soft Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is backup software for Linux or Windows operating systems (OSs).
This add-on from R1Soft provides high-performance disk-to-disk server backup and protection for databases, such as MySQL. After selecting R1Soft CDP as an OS-specific add-on, add Disk Agent Packs or MySQL Backup Packs in the required combination needed for the number of servers or databases you need to back up.
Uplink port speed
The uplink port speed is the rate at which you can transfer data to and from public instances. You can add to the standard 10 Mbps network ports that come with your configuration with speeds of 100 or 1000 Mbps. The higher the port speed, the faster your transfer rates will be.
(Options available for monthly contracts only.) This is the amount of data transfer between the public Internet and your instance(s). 1000 GB of outbound bandwidth comes standard with your order. For larger data transfer needs, you can opt to increase bandwidth up to 10,000 GB. (Note – if you exceed purchased bandwidth, you will be charged a fee of 10 cents per GB for every GB that exceeds the purchased bandwidth amount). For very large data transfer needs, choose unlimited/unmetered public bandwidth.
Secondary IP V4 Options
IP V4 is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol networking standard. One public IP address comes standard with your order. You can choose to add another 4 or 8 secondary IP addresses, depending upon the nature of the web traffic and network protocols in use.
(Monthly contracts only.) A firewall helps prevent unauthorized use and access to your network. A software-based firewall provides basic protection for public instances running Linux or Windows.
For increased protection, choose a hardware-based firewall, which can provide a physical separation between potential security threats and the data on your servers. They can also help protect every machine on your local network. You can choose speeds in increments of 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps for desired throughput.
(Monthly contracts only.) This software works with the tools in the AT&T Cloud Architect management portal. It provides more granular control, as well as GUI-based tools for setting up, configuring, monitoring and managing hosted websites. Choose Parallel Plesk or cPanel/WHM with Fantastico and RVSkin.
Database options for hourly pricing packages include MongoDB and MySQL for Linux or Windows. Options for monthly packages also include Microsoft SQL Server. Your choice should be guided by the requirements of the specific applications you will be running.
Antivirus software helps detect, prevent and remove malicious software programs. Hourly packages include an option for basic McAfee VirusScan Anti-Virus software. Monthly packages also include McAfee Total Protection for more robust, proactive protection for public instances running critical applications
Some monitoring, notification and response services are included with your public instance. For business-critical applications and workloads, choose a Host Ping test service to measure response time and identify issues before they impact performance. Host Ping and TCP Server Monitoring takes a more in-depth look at various TCP/IP services you have running.
Automated response services come standard with your order to notify you via email about performance issues or delays. To receive both email and phone notifications, choose the 24x7x365 NOC Monitoring, Notification and Response option. The Automated Reboot from Monitoring option reboots your public instance with no intervention required by you.
